HLYWA- Wira Hlywa, age 78 of Southbury, beloved wife of the late Teodor Hlywa, died November 17, 2011 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Smereowiec, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Piotr and Maria Lozyniak Zemlan. Mrs. Hlywa worked for the Pitney Bowes Co. for 27 years until her retirement in 1991. She was a faithful member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She will be remembered for her special love for her grandchildren, her unending patience and her ability to offer unselfish advice and insightful wisdom to her friends and family. She is survived by her devoted children, Andrew R. Hlywa and his wife, Jan of Southbury and Lidia Hogan and her husband, Peter of Bethel; cherished grandchildren, Jaclyn and Katie Hlywa of Southbury and Kaelin and Michael Hogan of Bethel; a brother, Roman Zemlan of Poland. Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 9:30 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM; Parastas at 6:30PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encourage to the Sts.
