Obituary of Anna Kowal

KOWAL- Anna Kowal, age 90, beloved wife of Michael A. Kowal of Shelton, died October 23, 2011 at Griffin Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Poland on May 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Wasil and Marta Dokla Gebuza. Mrs. Kowal immigrated to the U.S. in 1947 and briefly resided in Ohio before moving to Shelton. She was an employee of the Better Packages Co. for over 30 years, before her retirement in 1983. Mrs. Kowal was lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and will be long remembered for her special love for her grandchildren and great-grandson. In addition to her husband of nearly 60 years, she is survived by her devoted children, Barbara (Peter) Pysarchyk of Shelton, Michael (Stefania Jolanta) Kowal of Bethany; and John (Julie Richardson) Kowal of Shelton; brothers, Szymon (Stefania) Gebuza of Darien, Stefan (Stefania) Gebuza and Petro (Anna) Gebuza of Ukraine; cherished grandchildren, Marianne and Michael Pysarchyk, Jessica and Alexandra Kowal, and Stephanie and Jaclyn Kowal; great-grandson, Stefan Pysarchyk-Ahmeti; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Maria Gebuza and Barbara Warholyk, and brothers, John and Michael Gebuza. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM; Parastas at 6:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Preservation Fund.
