Obituary of Henry Phillips

PHILLIPS- Henry A. Phillips, age 85 of Waterbury, formerly of Ansonia and Brooklyn, NY, died August 5, 2011 in his home following a sudden illness. Born in Derby on December 9, 1925, he was the son of late Dennis and Anna Horbal Pelepzuk. Mr. Phillips was a graduate of Pine High School, UCONN with a B.S. in Business and the University of Long Island with a M.S. in Finance. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, serving in Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and the Korean War, as well as a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic War Veterans. Mr. Phillips worked as an Industrial Engineer for Sikorsky Co. for over 20 years, until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of SPEBSQUA and enjoyed singing the old standards of barber shop quartet. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Georgia Dawn Bostic-Anderson of Waterbury; a brother Dennis Phillips and his wife, Joan of Shelton; cherished grandsons, Jason Bostic and his wife Nadja of KY and Derek Bostic and his fiancé, Laura of TX; and great-granddaughter, Kayla Bostic of KY. He was predeceased by his fiancé, Vivienne Cooke; twin brother, Nicholas Phillips, as well as brothers George and Frank Phillips. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10:45 AM, from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment with Military Honors will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.
