Obituary of Mary Gleason

GLEASON-Mary Kathryn Gleason, age 68 of Southport, died Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011, at the CT Hospice, Branford. Born in Chicago, IL on December 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John Philip and Kathryn Cecelia Graf Gleason. Ms. Gleason was raised in Dobbs Ferry, NY and resided in Switzerland, Brookfield, Westport, and Miami before settling in Southport 10 years ago. She graduated from WCSU with a BSRN Degree and then graduated from the University of Miami with APRN Degree. Ms. Gleason worked with many nursing agencies as a Nurse Practitioner, until the time of her illness. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage. She was an avid photographer and enjoyed printing and processing her own film. She will long be remembered for her inner strength to over come hardships she faced in life. Her tenacity to persevere with exceptional whit and humor inspired all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted children, Ronda Kathryn Zalenski and her husband, Robert of Shelton and Sean Steigerwald and his wife, Carrie of Mason, OH; brothers, Philip G. Gleason of NY, NY, and Edward Gleason of Yorktown Heights, NY; cherished granddaughters, Shae and Skye Zalenski of Shelton and Preston and Audrey Steigerwald of Mason, OH. A celebration of her life will be held in the home of Ronda and Robert Zalenski, Shelton, on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM.
