Obituary of Michael Telep

TELEP- Michael J. Telep, age 92, of Ansonia, beloved husband of the late Mary Sholtys Telep, died March 7, 2011 at the Shelton Lakes Health Care Center. Born in Ansonia on November 17, 1918, he was the son of the late Jacob and Christine Telep. Mr. Telep was a lifelong resident of Ansonia and member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Mr. Telep worked as a crane operator for over 38 years for the American Brass Co. before his retirement. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II. Mr. Telep was a medic in the 79th Replacement Battalion, serving in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central European Campaigns. He was the 2nd Vice Commander of Post 1677, Catholic War Veterans, Ansonia. Mr. Telep is survived by his devoted children, Michael Telep and his wife, Maria; and Gloria Telep, all of Ansonia; sister, Mildred Wailonis of Ansonia; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his spouse of 60 years, he was predeceased by sisters, Ann Telep, Eva Sampieri, and Helen Jelasko; and a brother, Joseph Telep. Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in the Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Springtime interment with Military Honors will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Thursday, March 10, 2011, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Preservation Fund.
