Obituary of Walter Duda

DUDA- Walter J. Duda, age 85, beloved wife of Dorothy Gela Duda of Seymour, died March 5, 2011 at the Gardener Heights Health Care Center, Shelton. Born in Seymour on September 23, 1925, he was the son of the late Martin and Anna Alex Duda. Mr. Duda was a lifelong Seymour resident and U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Following his war time service, Mr. Duda worked as a clerk for the U.S. Army Reserve Training Center in New Haven for 37 years, until his retirement in 1987. With his beloved wife, he enjoyed traveling around the world, as well as trips to the casinos and the senior center. In addition to his wife "Babe" of 57 years, he is survived by his devoted son, Martin J. Duda and his wife, Tamera of Watertown; a sister, Anna Klimowski of Seymour; three cherished grandchildren, Travis, Shelby and Logen Duda; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Duda was predeceased by sisters, Maye Duda and Rose Birdsall; and brothers, John, Joseph and Frank Duda. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia, at 10:00 AM. Springtime interment will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and Friends may call on Thursday morning, prior to Mass. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Preservation Fund.
