Obituary of Jaroslaw Sosna

SOSNA-Jaroslaw "Jerry" Sosna, age 87, of Waterbury, beloved companion of Frances Peznowski of Waterbury, died December 20, 2010 at the Harbor East Village Assisted Living Center, Waterbury. Born in Ukraine on September 20, 1923, he was the son of the late Dmytro and Anna Mykytyn Sosna. Mr. Sosna was a survivor of the Gross-Rosen and Buchenwald concentration camps from 1942-1945. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1949 and became a proud naturalized U.S. citizen in 1955. Mr. Sosna worked as a skilled european tailor and then as a machinist for the Bristol-Babcock Co. for 19 years, retiring in 1985. In addition to his companion of 40 years, he is survived by a son, Clinton Sosna of Waterbury. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Thursday morning prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Preservation Fund.
