Obituary of Helen Zelinsky

ZELINSKY- Helen Hylwa Zelinsky, age 88, of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Frank Zelinsky, died Monday, November 15, 2010, in the comfort of her home. Born in Ansonia on July 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Elias and Tecla Ciok Hylwa. Mrs. Zelinsky was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and Seymour resident for many years, before returning to Ansonia. She was employed with the American Brass Co. and then Great Country Bank, prior to her retirement. Mrs. Zelinsky was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Choir, Beta Sigma Gama Girls, and the Ansonia, Derby and Seymour Senior Centers. Her life was a testimony to doing good works and helping other people. She is survived by her children, Gerald Chopak of Beacon Falls and Joan Namyak of PA; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her great-great grand nieceS and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Zelinsky was predeceased by a stepson, James Chopak and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral services will take place from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia, on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 9:15 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Friday, November 19, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Preservation Fund.
