Obituary of Sylvia Dimon

DIMON- Sylvia Carolyn (LaBar) Dimon, 86, of Shelton, CT, died Thursday at Griffin Hospital. Born March 20, 1924 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the youngest daughter of the late Guy L. and Sarah (Eales) LaBar. Sylvia grew up in Bridgeport for 30 years prior to moving to Derby for a short time and then Shelton, where she spent the remainder of her life in White Hills. Upon graduating from Bassick High School in 1942, Sylvia worked in the Fire Insurance Department of Investors Mortgage Company for 17 years. During her tenure, she was reporting Secretary for the Bridgeport Association of Insurance Women. She later worked in the cafeteria of the Shelton School System at both Elizabeth S. Shelton E.S. and Shelton H.S., where she retired after 20 years. Sylvia married Marcus Wiley Dimon in September 1955. To this marriage she had four sons, David M., Timothy G., Guy L., and Dale M. Dimon. Sylvia is survived by son Dale Dimon and his wife Monica, son Timothy Dimon and his wife Marde all of Seymour, son David Dimon and his wife Donna of Potomac, MD, step-daughter Marilyn White and her husband Bill of Greenfield, MA, a step-daughter-in-law Patricia Dimon of Lexington, KY, a nephew Jonathan Benedict of Reston, VA, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Sylvia was predeceased by a sister Sally Benedict. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 11:00am at the United Methodist Church, 515 Cutlers Farm Rd., Monroe, with a viewing from 9:30am to 11:00am. Burial will be in Lawn Cemetery, Huntington. Calling hours are also Monday from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave, Ansonia.
