Obituary of Antoinette Cherniavsky

CHERNIAVSKY- Antoinette Bachkowsky Cherniavsky, age 81 of West Haven, beloved wife of the late Alexander Cherniavsky, entered into eternal rest on July 7, 2010 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was born on January 10, 1929 to the late Wasil and Louise (Fedorey) Bachkowsky. Antoinette (Toni) graduated from Ansonia High School in Ansonia and went to work at B.F.Goodrich in Shelton. While working there, she went back to school and became an L.P.N. After graduation, Toni went to work at the former Laurel Heights Hospital in Shelton, and later for Dr. Peter Demir in New Haven until her retirement. In her younger days she worshipped at Three Saints Church in Ansonia where she taught religion and belonged to the "R" Club. After her marriage she practiced her faith at The Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church in New Haven where she was a member of their board. In addition to her husband, Antoinette was predeceased by her loving Aunt Anne (Mrs. Theodore) Lonardo, and Uncles James and Frank Fedorey, Henry (Dorothy) Fedory and Walter (Mary) Stepaney. She is survived by cousins Attorney Thomas (Carla) Lonardo of Cheshire, Marianne (George) Horbal of Ansonia, their children and their children's children. Also Phyllis Fedory of Derby and Aunt Nora Fedorey of Seymour. She will be missed by her many friends as well. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM in Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church, 285 Alden Ave., New Haven. Interment will directly follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
