Obituary of Sarah Karolkowski

KAROLKOWSKI- Sarah Winifred "Winnie" "Sally" Karolkowski, age 62 of Seymour, beloved wife of Thomas Karolkowski, died June 20, 2010 at the CT Hospice, Branford. Born in Ireland on October 9, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Josephine Brennan McElroy. Mrs. Karolkowski was a longtime resident of Fairfield before moving to Seymour 5 years ago. She was a home maker, an avid bingo player and devout communicant of St. Emery Church, Fairfield. In addition to her husband of 43 years, she is survived by her devoted children, Thomas J. Karolkowski, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Bridgeport, Sally A. Southard and her husband, Darren of Ansonia, and Brian A. Karolkowski and his wife, Megan of Fairfield; brother, Frank McElroy and his wife, Cathleen of NY; sisters, Mary McMenamin and her husband, Sean of NJ, Ann O'Connor and her husband, Jim of NY, Jackie McElroy of NY, Lillian Zambardino and her husband, James of NY and Eileen Coates and her husband, Edward of PA; 11 cherished grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as her best friend, Patricia Hull and her husband, Robert of Bridgeport. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph McElroy. A Mass of Christian Burial, MEETING DIRECTLY AT CHURCH, will be celebrated on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 10:00 AM in St. Emery Church, 838 Kings Hwy. E., Fairfield. Interment will directly follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
