Obituary of Eugene J. Allaire
Eugene Joseph Allaire, age 91, beloved husband of Monique Poulin Allaire, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Saint Zacharie, Quebec, Canada on April 28, 1933, he was one of twelve children of the late Emanuel Allaire and Maria Rodrigue. Mr. Allaire immigrated to the U.S. in 1967, settling in the valley and has been a Derby resident since 1976. He enjoyed a long career as a self-employed carpenter and remodeling contractor, until the time of his unofficial retirement in 2008. A skilled craftsman, Mr. Allaire could build or fix just about anything. He loved to tinker on woodworking projects in his workshop, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and the Weather Channel on TV and was a lifelong hockey enthusiast and fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was a kind and humble man and lived a simple life. In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by his devoted daughter, Paule Skirkanich and her husband, Joseph of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Kevin Skirkanich and his wife Brittany of Brookfield, Adam Skirkanich and his wife Luiza of Seymour and Nicole Dorosh and her husband, Dylan of Naugatuck; great-grandchildren, Lillian Dorosh, Ellie Skirkanich and Lucas Skirkanich; daughter-in-law Beth Allaire of Derby; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a few living siblings in Canada. He was predeceased by a son, James Allaire.
Family and friends may call on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
