Obituary of Lorraine Jean Godfrey

Lorraine Jean Godfrey, age 67, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Bridgeport, CT on December 22, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Grandfield Siksay.  Known affectionately as “Bunny”, she worked as a Material Supervisor for the State of CT at the Bridgeport Mental Health Center for over 20 years, until the time of her retirement.   She was a resident of Ansonia for over 25 years, prior to moving to Naugatuck 8 years ago.  “Bunny” was a fan of the UCONN Lady Huskies, enjoyed playing pool and watching her favorites dramas on TV.  She loved nothing more than enjoying a slice of pizza while relaxing in her favorite place… her room.  Together with her family, she enjoyed memorable Caribbean cruises and vacations.  “Bunny” brought joy, love and laughter to everyone around her, and she cherished the time spent with family, especially with her grandchildren.  “Bunny’s” family was her greatest accomplishment, and she took immense pride in nurturing and supporting them.

 She was a devoted mother to Michelle L. Godfrey and her wife, Meme Garnett of Naugatuck, Marcia L. Godfrey and her husband, Josh Booth of Ansonia, Emily V. Mulherin and her husband, Jose Serrano of Waterbury, and Dylan P. Mulherin and his wife, Ashley of Stratford; a sister to Steve Siksay of VA and Richard Siksay of Naugatuck; a proud grandmother to her beautiful grandchildren: Kyle Garnett of Naugatuck, Isabella Mulherin of Stratford, and Crew Serrano of Waterbury, and her wonderful great-granddaughter, Sophia Garnett of Naugatuck. “Bunny “is also survived by her former spouse and friend, David B. Godfrey of Ansonia.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Maureen Groballi, Mary Siksay and Judith Santone and a brother, Leroy Siksay.  Funeral services are private.  The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.

The moment you left us, our hearts split in two. One side filled with memories while the other side died with you. We often lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon our cheeks. Remembering you is easy, we will do it every day, but missing you is a heartache that will never go away. We will hold you tightly within our hearts and there you will remain. You see life will go on without you, but it will never be the same!
