Obituary of Tadeusz Wegiel

Tadeusz Wegiel, age 70 of Maricopa, AZ (formerly of Ansonia) died peacefully on February 6, 2024 at his residence with his children by his side. Born in Skrzynka, Poland on March 29, 1953, he was the son of the late Stanislaw and Czeslawa Sieczkowski Wegiel.

Mr. Wegiel immigrated to the United States in the 1980s, in 1993 was joined by his family, and settled in Ansonia where he resided until moving to Arizona in 2005.  He was employed at Shick Corporation of Milford for many years and then worked as a warehouse clerk for the McKesson Corporation of AZ, until the time of his retirement in 2018.  Mr. Wegiel loved music, especially Elvis Presley and was an avid memorabilia collector of both Elvis and Pope John Paul II.  His extensive collection included books, coins, stamps, and photos among other treasures.  He was a voracious reader and would often attend book signings to personally meet the authors and seek their autographs.  Mr. Wegiel enjoyed living in the Arizona lifestyle of being outdoors in the southwest landscape.

He is survived by his devoted children, Elzbieta Zdunek and her husband, Dariusz of AZ and Robert Wegiel and his wife, Iwona of SC; siblings, John Wegiel and his wife Jadwiga of Ansonia, Helena Trzepacz and her husband, Stefan of Seymour and Irena Jaje and her husband Bogdan of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Patrycja and Angelica Zdunek of AZ and Elliana and Alexander Wegiel of SC.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant brother and sister.
