Obituary of Bernice Alicea

Bernice Alicea, age 69 of Seymour, died November 15, 2023 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on May 23,1954, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Chester and Pauline Olenoski Wisniewski.

Ms. Alicea was raised in Bridgeport, attended Central High School, and has resided in Seymour for many years.  She started her career as a phlebotomist at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, worked for multiple laboratory companies and retired in 2019 after working at Dianon-Lab Corp of Shelton. 

A book lover and cooking show enthusiast, she loved trying new recipes, chatting with her neighbors and DaVita friends, spending time with her dear friend Lori, and visiting with her niece Lisa.

She is survived by her sisters Judith Wisniewski of Florida and Laura Pederson and husband Mark of Oxford; nieces and nephew Lisa Vogele and husband Mark of Colorado, Nicholas Colangelo and wife Caitlyn of Florida, and Christine Colangelo of Florida. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael S. Alicea and her treasured feline companion Mandy.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, A memorial service will take place at 6:30 PM.  Private interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Library for Accessible Books, 786 South Main St., Middletown, CT 06457.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
