Obituary of Camille Copertino
Camille Copertino, 78, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest after a brief illness, on September 1, 2023 at Oceanside Rehabilitation in Rockport, MA.
Camille was born in New York, NY on November 22, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Janet Copertino. A resident of Ansonia since 1969, she was devoted to her family. She is survived by her loving children, Richard Drost Jr. (Jennifer) of Rockport, MA and Linda Drost of Ansonia, grandchildren, Julia, Anna, Erik, and Sophia Drost, and many extended family members in Williamsport, PA.
After graduating from Shelton High School, Camille received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from the University of New Haven, where she later taught computer programming in the evenings. Camille specialized in computer science and worked as a systems analyst at a time when very few women worked in the field of computers from the 1970’s until retirement. She acquired friends from her extensive career at SNET, PerkinElmer, General Electric, St. Raphael’s Hospital, Cerner, and Griffin Hospital. She was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia, where she served as both a lector, and as a Eucharistic minister. She was affiliated with the Seton Associates and spent many Catholic retreats at Mercy Center in Madison.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, September 10, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will take place from the funeral home on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby.
