Obituary of Joyce Schutte Capozziello
Joyce Linda Schutte Capozziello, age 74 of Bridgeport, died peacefully on August 18, 2023, at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born in Norwalk on December 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Katherine Nagel Schutte. Joyce was raised in New Canaan and Norwalk and was a graduate of New Canaan High School. Growing up as a “tomboy” of sorts, she became very skilled at using hand tools, a talent that served her well throughout many home renovations, DIY and furniture refinishing projects. Fun loving at heart with a great sense of humor, she made every holiday an event. Halloweens were especially epic, complete with hand-sewn costumes and over-the-top decorations - an event both family and friends looked forward to every year. Joyce enjoyed family camping and fishing trips and was never afraid to get her hands dirty in her garden. Always fashion conscious, she enjoyed dressing in the latest styles, and always sported a stylish hairdo, right up to her final days. She worked as the manager of Scruples Gentleman’s Club of Bridgeport for over 25 years, until the time of her retirement. Joyce was vivacious and believed in justice and peace. She was often referred to as the calm in the storm, and by those closest to her their confidant. She was known for her sound nonjudgmental advice. Truly, an original especially for her time. Joyce had unconditional love for family, she will be long remembered as a loving, generous joyful and devoted Mother and Mema, roles that brought her endless pleasure and happiness. Joyce was a fierce and loyal friend to Patty Olsen, Peg Carpenter, Inge Wijffels and Bobby Murray. She is survived by her three children, Danielle (Andy Fernez) Capozziello of Seymour, Ryan Capozziello of Bridgeport and Adam Capozziello of Ansonia; sisters, Elaine White of Ansonia and Sharon (Paul) Picard of NC; five cherished grandchildren, Link Capozziello of Bridgeport, Gavin Capozziello of Stratford and Zoe, Hazel and Parker Capozziello, all of Seymour; as well as her former spouse, Daniel Capozziello and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, is in care of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
