Obituary of Leonila Gebuza

Leonila “Lee” Gebuza, age 66, beloved wife of Roman Gebuza of Shelton, died peacefully on July 2, 2023, surrounded by her family at Bridgeport Hospital.  She bravely and courageously battled cancer for 2 years.  Born in the City of Caloocan, Philippines on July 26, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Pedro and Elena Alarcos Aquino.

Together with her husband Roman, she enjoyed traveling the globe and living abroad while he was serving active duty in the United States Marine Corps.  A resident of Shelton since 1978, Mrs. Gebuza worked in the ladies fashion accessory industry for the former L’Amy of America Company for over 10 years, until the time of her retirement.   She was a devoted parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia and often attended Mass at St. Lawrence Church of Huntington. A pious woman of great faith, Mrs. Gebuza was accompanied by family and close friends on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in October of 2022.  She will be long remembered for her special love for her family, especially for her grandchildren, of whom she greatly adored.

In addition to her husband of 45 years, she is survived by her devoted children, Lizel Aquino of Delaware, Lisa (Michael) Warycha of Norwalk, Illene (Matthew) Dmyterko of Cheshire, and Roman Gebuza, Jr. of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Stephanie and Michael Warycha of Norwalk and Emilia and Maksym Dmyterko of Cheshire; as well as 9 brothers and sisters.
