Obituary of Nicolae Kushnir
Nicolae Kushnir, age 21 of Moodus, formerly of Stratford, entered eternal rest on June 5, 2023. Born in Ialoveni, Moldova, he was the son of Oleg and Lucia Trofim Kushnir of Moodus. Nicolae emigrated to the United States in 2007 and was raised in Stratford. He was conscientious and intelligent student. Nicolae graduated from Stratford High School and was a sophomore attending the University of Connecticut, majoring in psychology. He will be missed and remembered by his family, his community at UConn and by all the lives that he touched. A Beloved son, brother and friend, Nicolae was a gentle and deep soul who inspired others to act with kindness. His smile and loving nature will always linger in the hearts of those closest to him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his devoted brother, Andrei Kushnir; sisters, Alexandra, Anastasia, Maria, Olga, Tatiana, and Sofia Kushnir, all of Moodus; his maternal grandparents, Vladimir and Zinaida Trofim of Moldova; his paternal grandmother, Nadejda Cusnir of Moldova; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by a paternal grandfather, Vasile Cusnir.
Friends and family may call on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the Presentation of Christ in the Temple Russian Orthodox Church, 5 Wheeler Terrace (corner of Nichols Avenue) Stratford, Panakhida at 7:00 PM. A Divine Liturgy at 8:00 AM and Requiem Funeral Service at 10:00 AM will be celebrated on Friday, June 9, 2023, meeting directly at Presentation of Christ in the Temple Russian Orthodox Church. Interment will follow in Three Saints Cemetery, Seymour. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, is in care of arrangements.
