Obituary of Deborah Fainer

Deborah Fainer, age 72 of Seymour, died May 9, 2023 at her home following a sudden illness. Born in Derby on January 5, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Gloria McCarthy Fitzpatrick.  Ms. Fainer was a graduate of Shelton High School and the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Griffin Hospital for 40 years, until the time of her retirement in 2018; she enjoyed many coffee socials with her fellow retired “Griffin family”. Ms. Fainer enjoyed DIY home improvement projects and was often found tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.  She took great pride in her trailing roses and colorful beds of pansies.  A lifelong animal lover, her feline companions earned her the moniker “Grandma Kitties” and her “grand-dogs” held a special place in her heart.   Ms. Fainer is survived by her devoted son, Jay (Michelle) Fainer of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Stephen, Gabriella, Sean and Seamus Fainer, all of Seymour; a nephew, Christopher Fitzpatrick of Shelton; as well as many cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, Ms. Fainer was predeceased by a brother, Mike Fitzpatrick and his wife Joanne.
