Obituary of May Ellen Blakley
May Ellen Blakley, age 87 of Ansonia, beloved wife of Robert G. Blakley died peacefully at home on February 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bridgeport on September 4, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Gomer Royal Job Morris and Evelyn Knapp Morris. Mrs. Blakley was a graduate of Stratford High School and was a lifelong Amateur Ham Radio operator. She won numerous awards and contests across the world. Her radio skills enabled her to contact nearly every nation on the globe and even spoke to astronauts in space and the Soviet Soyuz spacecraft. She was a lifelong member of the Housatonic Boat Club and enjoyed summers with her husband on their sailboat at Block Island, RI. Mrs. Blakley and her family were fortunate to live within the peace and tranquility of the Roosevelt Forest, Stratford, for over 42 years, as her husband Robert was the Forest Ranger. In addition to her husband of 72 years, she is survived by her devoted children, Robert G. Blakley, Jr. and Suzanne Blakley, both of Naugatuck; and a cherished grandson, William Blakley of Prospect. She is predeceased by brother, George Morris; and sister, Evelyn Koski.
