Obituary of Helen Emily Danko

Helen Emily Danko, age 99, of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late John Danko, died peacefully on January 29, 2017, 2017 at the Shady Knoll Health Care Center, Seymour. Born in Ansonia on October 11, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Anna Krupa Student. Mrs. Danko worked as a nurse’s aide for the Hewitt Memorial Health Care Center of Shelton for 27 years, until the time of her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Chapter of Catholic War Veterans and will be long remembered as a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted children, Jane Botti of Ansonia, Sandy (Cooky) Parkosewich of Seymour and John Danko of MO; a sister, Dorothy Nelligan of Branford; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great Grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Danko was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Sala; sisters, Esther Bunk and Mary Nishti; brothers, Michael, Milton and Peter Student; son-in-law, Arnie Botti; step-daughter, Dorothy Madzik; and daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Danko. Funeral services will take place on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 8:30 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 9:30 AM in the Church of the Assumption, 61 South Cliff St., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia.
