Obituary of Evelyn A. Zalenski

Evelyn A. Zalenski, age 90 of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Walter Zalenski, died peacefully on February 23, 2024 at the Hewitt Health and Rehab Center, Shelton.  Born in Orange, on April 1, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Elizabeth Balko Wydra.  Mrs. Zalenski worked as a secretary for the U.S. Motors Corporation of Milford for many years, until the time of their relocation.  She then continued to work as a secretary for the United Way of Milford, until the time of her retirement in 2008.  Mrs. Zalenski enjoyed being in the company of her family, listening to music and tending to her garden.  She was a lifelong member of St. Michael Church of Derby. Mrs. Zalenski is survived by her devoted sister, Regina DeFrank of Ansonia and brother, Edward (Susan) Wydra of Milford; a niece, Melinda Atwood of Woodbridge and nephews, Richard (Susan) DeFrank of Oxford and Edward DeFrank of Ansonia; as well as many other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.  In addition to her husband of 57 years, she was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Zalenski and Brothers, Adam, John, George, Bernard and Paul Wydra.

 

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 11:30 AM in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Avenue, Derby.  Interment will follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
