Obituary of Mildred Pawlak
Mildred Pawlak, age 98 of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Paul Pawlak, Sr., passed away peacefully on November 10, 2018 after a brief illness at Waterbury Hospital. Born in Ansonia on July 16, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Christina Madzik Shpak. Mrs. Pawlak was a resident of Seymour for over 70 years where she devoted her life to raising her four sons, providing a safe and secure home life while she supported her husband’s political career in many local and Connecticut State campaigns and endeavors. After seeing to her sons’ educations, she then turned her energies to creating a new career for herself, becoming a successful realtor in the Valley, where she worked for Botti Real Estate until the time of her retirement. Her love of sports was perhaps instigated in part by the fact that all of her sons actively participated in sports through high school and thereafter. Two of her great passions were cheering on the UCONN Women’s Basketball Team and the New England Patriots. Mrs. Pawlak was a lifelong Communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul Church of Ansonia and a longtime member and volunteer of the Seymour Democratic Town Committee. She is survived by her devoted children, Paul Pawlak, Jr. and his wife Connie of MA, Joseph Pawlak and his wife Patricia of Watertown, David M. Pawlak of IA, and Richard G. Pawlak and his wife Yvonne of MA; seven cherished grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. As she joins her beloved husband, Paul, in the afterlife, it was a little-known coincidence that of the many events and life experiences they shared over their 74 years of marriage, they also shared the same birth date, July 16th. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Stella Behuniak, Tessie Mendyk, Mary Hulowski, Ann Peters and brothers, John, Michael, Andrew, Joseph, Stephen Spak and Daniel Shpak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Avenue, Ansonia on Thursday, November 15, 2018. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, Millie would want any donations be made to the Salvation Army, 26 Lester Street, Ansonia, CT 06401. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
