Obituary of Elizabeth A. Seliga

Elizabeth “Betty” A. Seliga, age 87, beloved wife of Stanley E. Seliga, Sr. of Shelton, died peacefully on June 3, 2018, at the CT Hospice, surrounded by her family.  Born in Bridgeport on December 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Maćova Balint.  Mrs. Seliga was raised in Bridgeport and graduated from Harding High School where she served as class president.  She graduated from Sts. Cyril & Methodius Commercial School and worked as an administrative assistant for the former Mercer Fuel Co. for 20 years and then for the Santa Fuel Co. for two years, until her retirement in 1990.  Mrs. Seliga was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and was deeply devoted to the Blessed Mother.  She was formerly a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus RC Church, Stratford, Sts. Cyril & Methodius RC Church, Bridgeport and St. Ann’s RC Church of DeBary, FL.  Together with her husband, she enjoyed 25 years of retirement in Orange City, FL.  Mrs. Seliga will be long remembered for her special love for her family, especially for her cherished grandchildren.  In addition to her husband of 58 years, she is survived by her devoted sons; Kevin (Patricia) Seliga of MA, David (Virginia) Seliga of Oxford, Stanley (Karen) Seliga, Jr. of East Haven and John Seliga of Hampton, GA; a “kid” sister, Sr. Bernice Marie SS.C.M of PA; brother, William Balint of Trumbull; and six precious grandchildren; Lauren (John Strathern) Seliga, Christine Seliga, Rebecca (Mark) Bova,  Nicholas Seliga, Allison Marie Seliga, and Amy Seliga; as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother; Joseph (Marion) Balint; sister, Mary (Dr. Francis) Malyska and sister-in-law, Kathleen Balint.  The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Jeffrey Orell and Staff of the Smilow Cancer Care Center of Derby and to the medical staff of CT Hospice for their compassionate care extended to “Betty” in her time of need. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, June 7, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 424 Coram Ave., Shelton.  Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Sts.
