Obituary of Joan Phillips
Joan Phillips, age 85, of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late John M. Phillips, died peacefully on March 30, 2018 at the Shady Knoll Heath Care Center, Seymour. Born in Ansonia on October 28, 1932, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Mary McCarthy Dixon. Mrs. Phillips was a graduate of Ansonia High School, a communicant of Holy Rosary Church and lifelong Ansonia resident. She worked as an assembler for the Hershey Metal Co. and then for the Schott Electronics Co., until her retirement in 1997. She is survived by her devoted children, James W. (Loretta) Phillips of Ansonia, Maureen A. Rozum of Oakville, Joan M. Phillips and Nancy L. Phillips, both of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Brian and Shawn Phillips, Shannon Bowen, and Eric Rozum; as well as six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Michael J. Phillips; a brother, William J. Dixon; and a son-in-law, Andy Rozum. Family and friends may call on Friday, April 6, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Funeral Service will be held after calling hours at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private. In recognition of Mrs. Phillips love for animals (especially dogs), memorial contributions may be made to the Ansonia Animal Shelter, Division St., Ansonia.
