Obituary of Michael P. Ribnicky

Michael P. Ribnicky, age 65, beloved husband of Arlene Wailonis Ribnicky of Bethany, died peacefully on March 9, 2018, at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Health, with his family by his side.  Born in Bridgeport on November 1, 1952, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Kica Ribnicky.   Mr. Ribnicky was a graduate of Bullard Havens High School, Norwalk Technical College and the University of New Haven, earning a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering.  He was employed as a Senior Electrical Engineer working in the Utilities and Engineering Dept. of Sikorsky / Lockheed Martin for over 43 years, until the time of his illness.  Most of his career was exclusively involved in the presidential helicopter program. Together with his wife and love of his life, he enjoyed many short trips and vacations through the years, including a Mediterranean Cruise.  In addition to his beloved wife of 27 years, he is survived by sisters, Margaret (Stephan) Lewkowicz and Nancy (Charles) Tomlinson; a brother, Paul Ribnicky, all of Stratford; also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.  He was predeceased by a brother, John Ribnicky.  Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff Street, Ansonia.  Interment will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ansonia Animal Shelter, Division St., Ansonia, CT 06401 or to the Bethany Animal Control, 135 Bradley Rd.
