Obituary of Marie Antoinette Cifatte
Marie Antoinette Cifatte, age 77, beloved wife of David J. Cifatte of Seymour, died peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Shady Knoll Health Center, surrounded by her family. Born in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Aniello and Christine Tocci Ciullo. Mrs. Cifatte was a resident of Seymour for the past 20 years, previously residing in New Hampshire, California and Norwalk. She was employed with the Lamps and Shades Co. of Darien for 6 years, until the time of her retirement; prior, she worked as an agent for the Save The Children Federation, where she traveled to Native American Reservations to coordinate aid and relief to children in need. Mrs. Cifatte began her professional career as a Loan Officer for the former Merchants Bank and Trust of Norwalk. She was an avid reader and member of the Seymour Senior Center, but her greatest adventures were traveling the United States with her husband and visiting many National Parks, including Alaska and Canada. She counted her grandchildren as her greatest blessings and was the quintessential doting grandma, loving every minute spent with them having tea parties, playing monster, and planning trips with the girls. In addition to her husband of over 54 years, she is survived by her devoted children, Gary (Michele) Cifatte of Trumbull and Cynthia Cifatte of Derby; a brother, Jonathon (Patricia) Cuillo of Norwalk and sisters, Phylamena “Phyliss” Reddington of VA and Rita (Richard) Hodges of Norwalk; cherished grandchildren, Julianna, Michael and Gina Cifatte of Trumbull; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Salvatore “Sal”, Frederick “Freddie” and Edward “Baby Eddie” Ciullo. Private interment will take place in St. John Cemetery, South Norwalk. A Memorial Mass will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 5:15 PM in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia is in care of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
