Obituary of Nicholas A. Uleano

Nicholas A. Uleano, age 86, beloved husband of Frances “Kita” Mut Rhodes Uleano of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on November 21, 2017 at Griffin Hospital, Derby, surrounded by his family.  Born in Manhattan, NY on April 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Alfonso Uleano and Victoria Santomassino Uleano Bozzo. Mr. Uleano was raised in NY, worked as a clothing model and dock worker, and was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.  He moved to the Valley in 1953 and worked in food service for 54 years as a meat cutter for the A&P Supermarkets for 30 years, and the Four Corners Grocery Store of Middlebury. He was passionate about cooking and was the former owner and operator of LaFamilia Restaurant of Oxford.  Mr. Uleano was an avid hunter and loved playing the daily numbers of the CT Lottery.  In addition to his wife of 32 years, Mr. Uleano is survived by his cherished children, Pamela (Jeff) Rubelmann of Bethany and Fred (Carla) Uleano of Ansonia; stepchildren, Linda (Bill) Mikita of Ansonia, Lisa Penna of Ansonia, Diane “DeeDee” Rhodes of Ansonia, Donna (Sally) Rzasa of West Haven, and David Rhodes of Ansonia; stepdaughter-in-law, Ilka Garita Rhodes of Ansonia; 15 grandchildren including his special granddaughter, Autumn Penna, of Ansonia; 6 great grandchildren; brothers Bernard Uleano of NJ and Jack Bozzo of FL; and sister Connie (Jr.) Logerfo of NY.  Nicholas was predeceased by stepfather, William Bozzo, brothers, Alphonse Uleano Jr. and Raymond Uleano; stepson, Charles “Dusty” Rhodes; and former spouse, Pauline Martino.  Funeral Services will take place on Monday, November 27, 2017, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff Street, Ansonia, CT.  Interment will follow with Military Honors in Mt.
