Obituary of Vincent William Tichy
Vincent William Tichy, age 91, beloved husband of Helen Dokla Tichy of Shelton, died peacefully on July 23, 2017 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Shelton on May 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Zak Tichy. Mr. Tichy was a lifelong Shelton resident and proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He worked as a machinist for the Auto Swage Products Co. of Shelton for many years, until his retirement in 1991, and was the owner of Tichy Tank Company in Shelton. He was a member of the Russian Club of Shelton, the Lemko Club of Derby, the Sutter-Terlizzi Post of the American Legion, Shelton and Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia. In addition to his wife of 67 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Michael (Carol) Tichy DMD of Shelton, Andrew (Nadeen) Tichy of Easton and Joyce (Juan) Tichy Zapata of NY; cherished grandchildren, Casey Tichy of Easton, Vanessa and John Joseph Zapata, both of NY, Mario Zapata of MA, Amet (Maribel) Zapata, NJ; great grandson, Tyler Zapata; sister, Frances Turecek of Orange; and brother, Joseph Tichy of Shelton. He was predeceased by brothers, Emil and Jeremiah Tichy; and sister, Mary Ecsedy. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Avenue, Ansonia. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 27, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
