Obituary of Mary C. Lieder LaBranche

Mary C. Lieder LaBranche, age 100 of Ansonia, beloved wife of Ralph J. LaBranche, died peacefully on February 24, 2017 at the Gardener Heights Healthcare Center, Shelton. Born in Bridgeport on January 8, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Wasil and Helena Homina Carpenia. Mrs. LaBranche was a 1934 graduate of Shelton High School, a longtime Ansonia resident and lifelong member of St. Anthony Church. She worked for the Waterman Pen Co., Chromium Process, and the American Brass Co., where she worked as a chemist for 23 years, prior to her retirement in 1981. Mrs. LaBranche was a volunteer at Griffin Hospital and a past president of the Lemko Club. She is survived by her devoted sons, William A. “Corky” (Connie) Lieder of Oxford and Richard D. (Danielle) Lieder of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Colleen Lieder of Seymour, Jeffrey (Krystina) Lieder of Beacon Falls, Christopher Lieder of New Haven, Adam Lieder of Seymour, Jean, John and Jennifer Turner, all of NY; great-grandchildren, Olivia Lieder of Seymour, Mikayla and Todd Turner of NY; as well as 3 stepsons; 8 step-grandchildren, and a step-great-grandson. Mrs. LaBranche was predeceased by her first husband, William A. Lieder; daughter, Rise Turner; sister, Ann Roberts; and a brother, Alexander Carpenia. Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 3, 2016, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Holy Rosary Church, Father Salemi Dr., Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, March 2, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
