Obituary of Carol Ann Marino
Carol Ann Kish Marino age, 74, beloved wife of Joseph F. Marino, passed peacefully on February 4, 2017 at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven. Her husband, family and friends were at her side. Born in Milford on February 4, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William Bernard and Flora Gainer Kish. Together with her husband, Joseph, Mrs. Marino lived in seven different states and Germany. She loved traveling, visiting 47 out of 50 states. Among her favorites were vacations to the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska and Canada. She was an avid reader and a member of several book clubs. Carol's kindness and positive personality endowed her with a vast network of caring friends. She was a compassionate and accomplished teacher, graduating from CCSU with a B.A., SHU with an M.A. and a Sixth Year degree from SCSU. Mrs. Marino’s career spanned four decades and multiple states. Her proudest achievement was establishing the very first kindergarten program in Louisiana in 1967 in Caddo Parish. Mrs. Marino retired in 2007 from the Shelton Public School System where she taught 7th grade science in SIS and elementary education in Mohegan School for 23 years. She loved science experiments and the impact they made on her class; but will be long remembered for her special bond she created with her students - often keeping in touch well beyond grammar school. In addition to her husband and soulmate, Joseph, of 51 years, she is survived by her devoted sons; Brian J. (Vladimir Santana) of FL and Jason W. (Chin Hee Kim, MD) Marino of VA; sisters, Geraldine (Thomas) Early, Jeannie (John) Phillips, and Laurie (Robert) Taylor, all of FL; cherished grandchildren, Kate and Claire Marino of VA; sisters-in-law, Karin (Wayne) Hooper of Sandy Hook; Marie (Gary) Ryan of AZ; brother-in-law, Michael (Elizabeth) Marino of Shelton; and several nieces and nephews.
