Obituary of Salvatore J. Fama

Salvatore J. Fama, age 93 of Ansonia, beloved husband of the late Jennie A. Dasson Fama, died peacefully on February 5, 2017 at the Lord Chamberlain Healthcare Center. Born in Ansonia on May 8, 1923, he was the son of the late Sebastiano and Sebastiana Lanteri Fama. Mr. Fama was a lifelong Ansonia resident and proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII where he served in the South Pacific. He was the Owner and Operator of Suburban Cleaners of Middlefield, CT for over 30 years until the time of his retirement. Mr. Fama was devoted to the Rosary and was an active member of Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of Monroe for more than 45 years. He enjoyed tinkering around his home and fixing things, especially his red VW beetle that he drove well beyond its years. He is survived by his devoted children, Michael (Nancy) Fama of Northford and Theresa (Ron) Kusterer of Ansonia; a brother, Nicholas Fama of Waterbury; 13 cherished grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife of 47 years, he was predeceased by a brother, Santo Fama; and sisters, Agnes Hudak and Anna Skoronski. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM in the Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, 15 Pepper St., Monroe. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 10, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel.
