Obituary of Lillian Viola Furedy

Lillian Viola Furedy, age 100 of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Tibor Furedy, died peacefully on April 16, 2018 at the Bishop Wicke Health Care Center, Shelton.  Born in Bridgeport on April 6, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elin Dahlquist Olson.  Mrs. Furedy was raised in Bridgeport and was the Valedictorian of Central High School’s Class of 1936.  A resident of Fairfield for many years, she was a devoted member of the Covenant Church of Easton where she was very active in the choir.  Mrs. Furedy loved singing throughout her life; she was a member of the Fairfield Chapter of the American Union of Swedish Singers and enjoyed singing while residing at Crosby Commons.  She is survived by her devoted daughter; Karen (Richard) Kurimsky of Oxford; cherished grandchildren, Alexander (Jessica) Kurimsky and Matthew (Amy) Kurimsky of Oxford; great grandchildren, Brendan, Michael and Emily Kurimsky of NY, and Ryan and Austin Kurimsky of Oxford; and a daughter-in-law, Jane Furedy of Shelton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by son, Paul H. Furedy and sister, Esther Ericson.  A Memorial Service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Covenant Church of Easton, 1 Sport Hill Rd., Easton, CT.  Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Bishop Wicke and Crosby Commons for the compassionate care extended to Lillian in her time of need.  The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
