Obituary of Richard J. Muzyk

Richard J. Muzyk, age 57, of Derby, died peacefully on February 21, 2018 at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Health.  Born in Derby on September 17, 1960, he was the son of Stanley F. and Dorothy Borkowski Muzyk, Jr. of Derby.  Mr. Muzyk was a lifelong resident of Derby and communicant of St. Michael Church.  He graduated from St. Michael Grammar School, Derby High School, the Technical Careers Institute and worked for many years as a technician in the electronics industry.  He was employed with Canberra Industries Co. of Meriden for over 10 years, until the time of his illness.  Mr. Muzyk loved all types of music and was an avid guitarist.  He combined his passion for music and knowledge of electronics to become a talented sound engineer, renovating his basement into a studio and mixing booth and briefly worked in the recording industry.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Diane (Arthur) Paquette of Madison, Stanley (Luci) Muzyk of Milford, Christine (Steven) Waryasz of Naugatuck, Thomas and Joseph Muzyk, both of Milford; a beloved companion of over 10 years, Julie Snopkoski of Derby; as well as cherished nieces and nephews, Chloe Melillo, Joseph Paquette, Stephanie Warasz, Kayla and Kelly Muzyk, and Sean Egan. He was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Muzyk.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby.  Interment will be private.  The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Closer to Free Fund, Office of Development, P.O.
