Obituary of Mary "Mimi" Lechus

Mary “Mimi” Lechus, age 94 of Cheshire, formerly of Seymour, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at the Elim Park Health Care Center, Cheshire. Born in Ansonia on July 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Profil and Effie Natowich Lechus.  Miss Lechus was raised in Ansonia and was a 1941 Graduate of Ansonia High School.  She resided in Seymour for 50 years, and was a lifelong devoted member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church where she was a choir member and office secretary, and a member of the CWV Ladies Aux.  Miss Lechus worked as a cost accountant for the Farrell Co. for 29 years, until the time of her retirement in 1985.  She was a member of the Farrell Old Timers Club and a very talented Knitter, sharing her beautiful creations with her family.  She became the heart of the family for every holiday gathering.  In her home, there was no such thing as too much food, too much love, or too many family members to welcome.  Miss Lechus was survived by six nieces, Jeanette Fournier, Lorraine Hirth, Shirley Haggerty, Patricia Azano, Patricia Chaghatzbanian, and Clare Pusateri; and two nephews, Peter Wislocki and John Lechus.  She was predeceased by brothers, Michael, William, John and Peter Lechus; and sister, Eva Wislocki. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at 11:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia.  Family and friends may call 9:00 to 10:30 AM prior to Mass, in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. Springtime interment will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sts. Peter and Paul Stained Glass Window Fund.
