Obituary of Philip W. Hunt

Philip Wesley Hunt, age 54, beloved husband of Carole Lee Guglielmino of Seymour, died tragically on November 9, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision. Born in New Haven, on January 23, 1963, he was the son of Paul and Susan Rice Hunt of Cheshire and FL. Mr. Hunt grew up in West Haven and Cheshire and was a 1981 graduate of Cheshire High School. He attended the United Methodist Church of Cheshire.  Mr. Hunt proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard-143rd MP from 1983 to 1989. He attended Gateway Community College in New Haven, and subsequently worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, most recently at the Westville Post Office, New Haven. Mr. Hunt, a lifelong sports fan, played softball in his youth and later was an avid skier and golfer. A true New England sports fan, especially for the New England Patriots, he held seasons tickets for close to 30 years.  Mr. Hunt was a member of the New Haven Ski Club and the Hamden Fish & Game Protective Assoc. Inc. A generous and giving soul, he was active in many charities – predominantly food drives and helping the less fortunate. In addition to his parents and wife of 16 years, he is survived by brothers, James (Amy) Hunt of Burlington, Kevin (Maureen) Hunt of Cheshire and a sister, Sara Hunt of Cheshire; many brothers and sisters-in-law of the Guglielmino family; many nieces and nephews whom he loved to make smile and laugh; as well as his furry family, Ruby, Topaz and Bella. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 1:00 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will be private.
