Obituary of Alexander R. Zygmunt

 Alexander R. Zygmunt, age 73 of Derby, died peacefully on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.  Born in Derby on November 8, 1944, he was the son of the late Alexander and Anna Homa Zygmunt.  Mr. Zygmunt was a graduate of Ansonia High School and worked as a customer service representative for J.P. Motors LLC of Woodbridge, for many years, until the time of his illness.  He formerly worked as a valet parking attendant at Griffin Hospital, Derby, where he made many friends among the patients and staff.  Mr. Zygmunt was a lifelong car enthusiast and enjoyed attending cruise nights and car shows with his companion, Janet in a Le Baron convertible.  His pride and joy was his Datsun 240Z that he painstakingly restored to showroom condition.  He is survived by his sons, Trevor H. Zygmunt of Middletown and Caol Zygmunt of Waterbury; grandsons, Caleb and Tyler Zygmunt of Ansonia; cousins, Mary (Dennis) McLaughlin of NJ, Paul McCarthy of NC, Elizabeth (Harry) Geloso of Beacon Falls, and Carol (Anthony) Lombard of Wolcott; aunt, Elizabeth Homa of Southbury; Godson, Robert McLaughlin of NJ; beloved friend, Janet Riccio of Derby; and good friend, Mary Androski and family. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mr. Zygmunt’s caregiver, Claudia Kerr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Avenue, Ansonia.  Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.  Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, prior to Mass.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
