Obituary of Constance J. Jarvis

Constance J. “Connie” Jarvis, age 100 of Ansonia, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 13, 2015 at CT Hospice, Branford after a very short stay. Connie was the wife of the late Charles J. “Boots” Jarvis, Ansonia’s Famed High School Coach and Athletic Director. She was born in Ansonia on March 29, 1915, the daughter of the late Constantine and Jennie Baczek Konwerski Pachitis and step-daughter of the late William Pachitis. A kind hearted and animal loving woman, Connie was known for her generosity to her family, friends, animals and her church. She treated her many nieces and nephews with the same kindness and caring one usually reserves for their own children. Connie loved time spent with her family and Friday nights were family hairdressing night for years. She worked as a hairdresser at beauty parlors in the valley and at Malley’s in New Haven. Prior to her retirement, she worked at the National School Studios in Derby. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Ansonia where she was their oldest parishioner, and was a member of the Experimental Theater Opera Group of New Haven in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Connie celebrated her 100th birthday in March of this year and was proud of the fact that she was able to live at home until she was over 100 years old. She received citations from President Obama and Senator Richard Blumenthal honoring her 100 years. She is survived by nephews, Kenneth (Debbie) Ritchie of Ansonia, Ronald (Judy) Ritchie of Orange, James (Carol) Konwerski of Seymour, John Konwerski of Bristol, Donald (Nancy) Wailonis of Wallingford, and John Konwerski of Oklahoma; nieces, Deborah (Dave) Hyder of Ansonia, Carol (Gerald) Heffernan of Ansonia, Constance (William) Lieder of Oxford, Janice Carse of Texas, and Joannie Bonnet of Indiana; and many grand nieces and nephews.
