Obituary of Irene Ploski

PLOSKI - Irene Ploski, age 92 of Shelton, died peacefully on November 2, 2015 at CT Hospice, Branford, with her devoted daughter Sandra by her side. Born in Poland on September 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Emily Rapala. As an infant, Ms. Ploski immigrated with her family to Canada and then to Derby in 1928 where she resided most of her life. She was a Communicant of St. Michael Church, a graduate of Derby High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Ms. Ploski worked in manufacturing for several valley companies before her employment at Sikorsky where she worked as an assembler for 15 years prior to her retirement in 1993. She was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables, a great cook – never preparing anything frozen or processed and an advocate for healthy living. Her healthy choices were an inspiration to all for good health. She is survived by daughters, Sandra Reed and her fiancé, Craig Duncan of Southington and Jorene Uluski “Renee” Haydusky and her husband, Bruce of Ansonia as well as a niece, Judy Fertelmes and her husband, Don of Shelton. She was predeceased by a cherished grandson, Joseph Reed and sister, Lucille Sciongay. Funeral services will take place on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 8:30 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby, at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby.
