Obituary of John Edward Larlee, Sr.

LARLEE, SR. - John Edward Larlee, Sr., age 83 of Oxford, beloved husband of the late Margaret Sabat Larlee, died February 5, 2015 at the Hewitt Health and Rehab Center, Shelton. Born in New Haven on April 2, 1931, he was a long time New Haven resident and Communicant of St. Brendan Church. Mr. Larlee was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Knights of Columbus and an accomplished martial arts expert. His extensive training in several disciplines of the martial arts resulted in him being elected into the Judo Hall of Fame and reaching upwards of 12th dan. John is survived by his children, John E. (Connie) Larlee, Jr. of KS, Jacqueline King of FL and Suzanne (Gary) Wisniewski of Oxford; cherished grandchildren, Jordan and Taryn Wisniewski of Oxford, Robert and Daniel King of FL/Hamden and Colin Larlee of KS. A Mass of Christian Burial, meeting directly at the church, will be Celebrated on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at 10:00 AM in St. Brendan Church, 455 Whalley Avenue, New Haven. Military Honors will be accorded following Mass. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
