Obituary of David J. Moccia

MOCCIA - David J. Moccia, age 51, of Derby, beloved husband of Cynthia L. Moccia, died September 23, 2014 at Griffin hospital following a sudden illness. Born in Derby on August 4, 1963, he was the son of Anthony and Pearl Elia Moccia of Orange. Mr. Moccia was a 1981 Graduate of Amity High School and 1983 Graduate of New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences. He worked as a Retail Sales Associate for Marshall’s stores of Ansonia and Milford for 10 years, previously employed by CBS as an accounts payable clerk for 10 years and IT administrator for 10 years. Mr. Moccia was a long time resident of Orange before moving to Derby three years ago. He was a James Bond and Frank Sinatra enthusiast and also enjoyed classic westerns starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. In addition to his parents and wife of 23 years, he is survived by his cherished children of whom he was most proud, Alyssa Marie Moccia of Shelton and Nicholas Michael Moccia of Derby; brothers and sisters, Paul (Gerri) Moccia of PA, Carmine Moccia of HI, Robert Moccia of FL, Christine Moccia of Orange, Richard (Teri) Moccia of Bridgeport, John Moccia and Paula Moccia; Godchildren, Jessica Horelick of Derby and Joseph D’Amico of Oxford; best friend since grade school, Damon Anastasian; as well as many nieces nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Masiak. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at 11:00 AM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Family and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, prior to the service. Interment will be private.
