Obituary of Caesar "Chet" Brighindi

BRIGHINDI - Caesar “Chet” Brighindi, age 79, beloved husband of Mildred Leonard Brighindi, of Seymour, returned to the Lord peacefully on August 31, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Born in Newark, NJ on February 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Caesar and Stella Romeo Brighindi. Mr. Brighindi was a long time resident of Seymour and worked as a self-employed plumber having worked with many prominent contractors in Fairfield County. He was a devoted family man, loving husband and devoted father. After retirement, he would often be found doing odd jobs around his home and was always working outdoors. He was proud of all his grandchildren’s achievements, attended all of their sporting events, and Friday nights were always special with his granddaughter, Isabella. A man of great faith, he was a daily communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd and took pride in his volunteer work. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his daughters, Debra Astolfi and her husband, John, and Donna Burns and her husband, Kenneth, all of Shelton; brothers, Peter Brighindi and his wife, Vivian, of MD and George Brighindi and his wife, Sandi, of SC; sisters, Nancy Secor of Redding and Louise Joyce of NJ; five cherished grandchildren, Rachel, Kenneth Jr., Joseph, Isabella, and Monica Burns, all of Shelton, and a great-grandson, Carmine Gomes; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the 9th floor staff at Waterbury Hospital and the staff from VITAS for their dedicated care and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial, Meeting Directly at Church, will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 5, 2014 in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour.
