Obituary of Brian F. Charney

CHARNEY- Brian F. Charney, age 48, beloved husband of Michele Smith Charney of Stratford, died suddenly on May 5, 2014 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on September 17, 1965, he was the son of Frank and Irene Mason Charney of Stratford. Mr. Charney was a lifelong Stratford resident and 1983 Graduate of Bunnell High School. He worked as an independent painting contractor for many years and also worked for several painting contractors until the time of his illness. He was an avid reader; enjoyed golf, fishing, tennis and was a loyal fan of the NY Rangers. He will be remembered as a devoted father and loving husband, fortunate to have celebrated his 28th wedding anniversary on May 3, 2014. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his cherished son, Alex C. Charney of Stratford; sister, Karen (Terry) McIlhoney of Oxford; brothers, Craig (Kim) Charney of TX and Gary Charney of Stratford; sister-in-law, Danielle Smith of Stratford and brother-in-law, Jamie (Lizz) Smith of Derby; as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial, Meeting Directly At Church, will be celebrated on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 10:00 AM in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia.
